Gunmen on Monday night stormed Amodu Street, off Akala Street, Mushin, Lagos State, killing an eight-month pregnant woman, Musili Bello, and her 12-year-old daughter, Suliat Olowu.

PUNCH Metro learnt that a commercial motorcycle rider, identified simply as Baba Monday, was also shot to death in the operation which was said to have lasted for about 20 minutes.

Our correspondent, who visited the scene on Tuesday, observed that the thugs riddled several houses with bullets and also vandalised some vehicles.

The slain woman’s father, Tajudeen Odusanwo, told PUNCH Metro that his daughter was shot in the stomach and in the face, while his granddaughter was shot in the head.

He said, “Between 9.30 and 10pm, my daughter and granddaughter were getting ready to close the shop when some armed thugs from the railway line stormed the street and started shooting sporadically.

“They shot my granddaughter in the head while my daughter, who is eight months pregnant, was shot in the stomach and in the face.”

Relatives of the deceased were seen crying when our correspondent visited their residence.

A relative, who did not identify herself, said, “Suliat (Olowu) was our baby. She was very intelligent and we used to call her Suliat kan, Aiyetoro kan. Her mother, Musili, even though pregnant, had been praying and fasting because she had been warned that something evil might happen.”

When our correspondent visited the third victim’s house, his family members were said to have taken his corpse to the mortuary.

The Area D Commander, ACP MD Garba; the Divisional Police Officer, Alakara Police Station, Anthony Okosun; the Officer in charge of Baker Unit, CSP Waheed Ayilara; and the Divisional Police Officer, Mushin Station, Fidelis Okafor; were with about 30 policemen in the area.

The police officers commiserated with the victims’ families and promised to beef up security in Mushin.

Residents, who came out in droves, urged the police to ensure that the culprits were brought to book.

A trader, Olabisi Shodiya, said, “We have been living in fear for too long. Last night, when they stormed our area, many of us hid inside the gutters with our children in order to avoid being hit. We can no longer sleep with our two eyes closed and we want the police to save us.”

An eyewitness, who craved anonymity, said the attackers came from Fadeyi and Ereko streets.

He said many of the culprits had been arrested and charged to court last year for murder but were released under controversial circumstances.

“The guys that invaded our streets were Oriyomi, aka Muda; Lanre Pumping, Mufu Magnet, Sars, Apdul, Monsuru 50 cent and Aglar,” he said.

It was learnt that Oriyomi and Lanre Pumping had been declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command, while Aglar had been arrested by the Alakara Police Division.

When our correspondent left the area around 2.30pm, it was observed that policemen had set up three pin-down points in the area.

Policemen from the Anti-Terrorism Squad, Alakara Division and the Area D Command were seen patrolling the adjoining streets of Alhaji Lasisi and Akala.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, who confirmed the incident, said the police authorities in the state would focus more on the area, with the intention of removing criminals and criminalities there.

She added, “For now, we have arrested five suspects in connection with the incident. More will still be done to fish out the culprits.”

Nigeria to celebrate centenary February, says Jonathan January 1, 2014 • By pmnews

President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday
disclosed that the nationwide ceremonies to
mark the hundred years of the Nigeria's
existence would commence in late February.
The President disclosed this while addressing
the congregation at the Our Lady Queen
Catholic Cathedral, Garki, Abuja, where he
attended the New Year service.
"Today is a special day, very special. 1st
January, 2014, because we have been
informing you that the amalgamation of our
country to what we now call Nigeria happened
on the 1st of January, 1914. Today, modern
Nigeria is one hundred years old.
"The formal ceremony will take place by late
February, and the programme will soon be
advertised for all Nigerians to see and know
the areas they will participate.
"It is a programme for all of us and all the
religious houses will be involved in one form of
prayer or the other. So, today, we are not just
celebrating the New Year but we are also
celebrating a special new year.

T.B. Joshua has declared 2014 as a
year of 'crossing the bridge', prophesying it to
be a year of destiny where corruption would be
corrected in Nigeria as corrupt leaders would
go down.
It was an electric atmosphere in The
Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN)
where large crowds thronged to usher in the
New Year 2014. T.B. Joshua came out around
11pm to deliver his much anticipated prophetic
message in a broadcast beamed live via the
churches popular television station Emmanuel
TV.
He first counseled believers to stay steadfast
in faith despite the challenges that would arise
in the coming year. "We are tempted so that
we may pray the more. Afflictions are meant
for our spiritual benefit," he encouraged the
congregants and television viewers.
Moving on, he spoke about what was to be
expected in the New Year, attendees listening
with rapt attention and scribbling notes as he
spoke. "This New Year 2014 is not like any
other year in the past. It is a year of crossing
bridge. To cross the bridge, you need to grab
onto faith," he began. "This is not going to be
easy for the mighty. Many of the mighty will
fall. Pray for them. The rich, famous and
popular people – many will fall this 2014
because crossing the bridge is not going to be
easy; they need God. Many of them believe it is
their own making to be great in their own area
of expertise."
He went on to decry the effect this 'fall'
would have on the business world as, according
to him, "98% of businesses and companies are
owned by these people." Specifying a field of
business that would especially be affected, he
said the airline industry would face multiple
challenges, leading to an unprecedented rise in
ticket prices, particularly noting that African
airlines would be most affected. Joshua
further declared 2014 to be a year of destiny
for those would 'follow the ways of the Lord'.
"Many people that are not known will be rise by
destiny," he prophesied.
Talking about the current Nigerian political
situation, Joshua said, "There will be a
leadership tussle on who will lead and who will
be presidential candidate in APC which will
affect them as a political party. They should
be vigilant. Many are with them in flesh but not
with them in spirit." Talking about the current
crisis Nigeria's ruling party PDP are embroiled
in, the prophet stated that they would 'pay any
price to unite' but that the issue of who would
be the presidential candidate would cause
challenges.
"Many of the key leaders in political parties
will go down in 2014," Joshua then announced
to the somber audience. "If many key leaders
go down with 2014, what will now happen in
2015? Pray for 2015 to be fulfilled. The
beginner is not the owner but the finisher."
He then stated to thunderous applause that
2014 would see a positive improvement for the
nation in the area of corruption. "What will
happen in 2014 will result in the correction of
the corruption in Nigeria because many
corrupt leaders will go down in 2014."
Joshua then prayed for the congregants who
all lit candles to symbolize the dawn of the
New Year. "God has promised that 2014 is the
year of destiny. Your destiny cannot be
changed. This New Year, your destiny cannot
be tampered with. I command your dream to
come true, your dream to come to fulfillment,
in Jesus' name."

2014 IN PROPHECY BY DADDY G.O
GENERAL/ INDIVIDUAL:
1. God says a divine promise of more than a
decade ago will begin to find fulfillment.
2. Someone can expect a prominent divine
visitation that will radically alter the course
of his or her life
3. Someone will have the first taste. There will
be quite a few narrow escapes of tragedies
NIGERIA
1. The future of Nigeria will be determined
this year and not in 2015
2. The equation at the beginning of the year
will be different from equation at the year
end. Therefore, don't jump into conclusion.
INTERNATIONAL
1. There will be major breakthroughs in
medicine and science
2. Pray against noisy highly destructive storms
3. Pray against monumental fire outbreaks.
NB: Other prophecies are not for public
consumption, says the G.O

2014 Prophecies By Dr. DK Olukoya Of MFM

Dr. Olukoya tagged the year the passover year
with reference to Exodus 12 vs 21, wherein
promises would be fulfilled, he also drew a
nexus between the number 14 and the
passover, going to the prophecies,he said,
1. This year is going to be one of great revival
2. It is going to be a year of many questions
but very few answers
3. There is going to be deliverance this year
from afflictions and bondages
4. A year of monumental failure for those who
trust in the occult
5. A year of harvest of babies
6. A year of wonders and mysteries
7. A year wherein strange hands shall compete
for flags and damage it(to be forestalled by
prayer)
8. He said something about violent storms
9. A year of deliverance for many, as the
passover signified an halt to the isrealites
bondage.
10. Opposition against the righteous this year
shall become powerless.
11. A year of heavy angelic visitation.
12. A year for prophetic dreamers(take
cognisance of your dreams this year)
13. A year when God will raise up women who
are prophetic voices for the country
14. A year when many companies shall go
bankrupt (to be forestalled by prayer)
15. A year of earthquakes and famine.
16. A tough year for political leaders who are
not standing straight.
17. Traders shall be chased out of Gods temple
this year
18. A year of marine madness(had to have
these shortened, there are 12 more)
Capping it, he gave seven necessities for this
year, he said you need, divine presence, divine
power, divine protection, divine provision,
divine purpose, divine positioning and divine
promotion, in conclusion he emphasised the
need for the pleading of the blood of Jesus
this year also drawing a nexus with the
isrealites passover. Shalom.
