CHOOSING BARABBAS INSTEAD OF JESUS

DAILY INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE 153.

TOPIC : CHOOSING BARABBAS INSTEAD OF JESUS.

Brethren! My thanks goes to all of you that always reads and do created time out of your so busy schedules to makes encouraging comments even at times asked questions.

Today devotional message talks about those things we preferred instead of Christ, despite the fact that we knew the damning consequences yet we still lives this UnGodly acts.

Dear Friends! Many have heard about the crucifixion of Jesus Christ instead of Barabbas. Each time we hear someone tell the story or it's being studied in the church setting, we cast blames on the Jews for preferring Barabbas to Jesus Christ.
It is usual for us to identify with Jesus Christ instead of Barabbas even if we may not know offhand where the event is recorded in the scripture. But one thing we often forget is that those who chose Barabbas in place of Jesus Christ were religious people as we are. They were not heathens. We may think that we cannot do what they did.

Beloved! One thing that we need to remember is that we make decisions each moment and day either for or against the principles of God. We choose Jesus Christ or Barabbas in each decision we make. Our actions or inactions follow the same trend recorded in the event that led to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ instead of Barabbas.
As the people knew both men well but chose the criminal instead of Christ, we are not immuned against their pitfalls.
They should Barabbas for the following reasons........

1). They preferred Barabbas to Jesus Christ because they were not willing to abide by the teachings of God as Jesus Christ advocated for and lived.
2). They preferred Barabbas to Jesus Christ because they saw Him as a threat to the profits they were making from the ignorant majority they led.
3). They preferred Barabbas to Jesus Christ because His life was not in agreement with their hypocrisy.
4). They preferred Barabbas to Jesus Christ because His way of life was a constant rebuke to theirs.
Are we also different today?

* Don't we also preferred our sinful life than God righteousness?
* Don't we hate and make efforts to undo those who rebuke our ungodly lifestyle?
* Don't we use our position to influence decisions against those who tell us bitter truth concerning our spiritual life?
* Don't we place our personal interest over the will of God and right doing?
* Don't we use our offices to grant undue favours to those who are loyal to us even when they don't deserve it?
If we're doing all of the above that means we have also chosen Barabbas instead of Jesus.

We are to call sins by their right name and try not to pervert decisions or judgement. Whoever that rebukes our unholy attitude must be loved and not hated, so that we won't repeat the colossal mistake the people of God made in preferring Barabbas to Jesus Christ (Matthew 27:17; John 18:40), and the consequences of their choice (John 19:6; Matthew 27:24, 25).
May the LORD be our strength and help us to do always what He considers right.

Have a nice working day full of blessing and divine favour in Jesus name..
