Read the following story carefully and answer the questions below it:
AGU AND THE MONEY DOUBLER
Agu, the washerman once went to the bank of the Niger River to wash clothes. He had just finished his work when a tall man, light in complexion, came up to him. This is your only chance in life to become rich, he said to Agu pointing to the deep blue river. I am the messenger of the powerful mermaid, the richest goddess who lives over there. Give me the money you have with you now and I will double it right away.
The doubler spoke so fluently and convincingly that Agu believed all he had said. 'But I have only two hundred naira leaves' he replied.
'That will do, a trial will convince you, 'said the doubler'. Agu then handed over the two hundred naira to him.
The "messenger" at once started to call on the mermaid while running forwards and backwards. Then he put the money into an iron container carefully lowered it into the shallow part of the river and knelt down and prayed.
Finally, he brought out four hundred naira from the container handed the sum over to Agu and smiled. Wonderful! Shouted Agu happily as he received and examined the money. "All good; no counterfeit! Surely dear messenger of the goddess, this is the happiest day in my life.
